For #DianaDay, I went to Tyler, TX in connection with another project.* I went with, perhaps, a few too many cameras…

Excessive, perhaps, but now, with film developed, I have a chance to look at the different formats and think some about the various use cases I have for them, maybe more effectively grab the right camera(s) when I’m on my way out the door in the morning, or head off for a trip, maybe. Overexposure at the Water Gardens

Mom came to visit us for a couple of days last week, and on Saturday morning, at Samie’s suggestion, we visited the Water Gardens in Fort Worth.

  1. An apparent misreading of the B/N switch on the Sprocket Rocket resulted in me shooting on B for the entire time.
  2. The light, but definite presence of homeless folks and those less fortunate than I gave me an opportunity to (fail to) be a better Muslim.

Unboxing some Brian Eno records

When I heard that Brian Eno’s 1970s pop records had been remastered and were set for a new, fancy, audiophile release, I got excited. Half-speed masters, freshly pressed at 45rpm? I wasn’t sure what any of that meant, but how could I not? After all, Here Come the Warm Jets is perhaps my favorite record of all time; Taking Tiger Mountain (by Strategy) has its moments; and Another Green World is one of those seminal records that just can’t be missed.*

FILMLAB 0.1.2 (3) – BETA TEST NOTES – iPhone 5 version

FilmLab beta 0.1.2 added support for older phones, including the iPhone 5. Since I happen to be holding on to my iPhone 5 for some unknown reason, I figured I’d test it too, and, God willing, I’ll continue to test both in future releases.

For this test, I tried: Superia XTRA 400, shot in the Nikon FE with the 35mm f/2 D; FPP RetroChrome, shot in the Nikon FE/35mm f/2 D combo and the Sprocket Rocket; hand-rolled Konica 160, from the Olympus XA; and Kodak Portrait 160, from the Yashica Mat-124.

tl;dr: results this time were about the same as with the iPhone 7: great difficulty finding frames. But I’m happy to report that it works fine in the iPhone 5. Continue reading “FILMLAB 0.1.2 (3) – BETA TEST NOTES – iPhone 5 version”
