Mom came to visit us for a couple of days last week, and on Saturday morning, at Samie’s suggestion, we visited the Water Gardens in Fort Worth.

When I heard that Brian Eno’s 1970s pop records had been remastered and were set for a new, fancy, audiophile release, I got excited. Half-speed masters, freshly pressed at 45rpm? I wasn’t sure what any of that meant, but how could I not? After all, Here Come the Warm Jets is perhaps my favorite record of all time; Taking Tiger Mountain (by Strategy) has its moments; and Another Green World is one of those seminal records that just can’t be missed.*

Sounds easy, right?
FilmLab beta 0.1.2 added support for older phones, including the iPhone 5. Since I happen to be holding on to my iPhone 5 for some unknown reason, I figured I’d test it too, and, God willing, I’ll continue to test both in future releases.
For this test, I tried: Superia XTRA 400, shot in the Nikon FE with the 35mm f/2 D; FPP RetroChrome, shot in the Nikon FE/35mm f/2 D combo and the Sprocket Rocket; hand-rolled Konica 160, from the Olympus XA; and Kodak Portrait 160, from the Yashica Mat-124.
tl;dr: results this time were about the same as with the iPhone 7: great difficulty finding frames. But I’m happy to report that it works fine in the iPhone 5. Continue reading “FILMLAB 0.1.2 (3) – BETA TEST NOTES – iPhone 5 version”
FilmLab beta v. 0.1.2 dropped today, and I wasted as little time as possible getting some film in front of it. When I have a bit more time on my hands, God willing, I’ll run some more tests (and include some medium format, and slide film, and test with my iPhone 5, even, as the new beta has support for older phones!).
For this quick test, I tried Fuji Superia XTRA 400, shot in the Diana Mini; Ilford HP5+ shot in the FM3a with the 50mm f/1.2; Kono Kolorit! 400, shot in the FE with the 35mm f/2 D; and Fuji Superia XTRA 400 shot in the FE with the 35mm f/2 D and the FG with the Holga 60mm f/8.
