“It is Allah who sends the winds, and they stir the clouds and spread them in the sky however He wills, and He makes them fragments so you see the rain emerge from within them. And when He causes it to fall upon whom He wills of His servants, immediately they rejoice” Surah Ar-Rum, Ayat 48.
Siesta
As mentioned previously, it’s Sunnah!
Coming soon…
Dependence Day!
One year ago today, I proposed to my darling Farhana Ali.
Alhamdulillah! Things went so quickly after that… We married in late August and it’s been happily ever after ever since.
I am so blessed to be able to share my life with this wonderful woman. May Allah Azza wa Jall bless her for putting up with me.
Surah Al-Furqan contains an excellent dua for anyone looking for a spouse or currently married:
Rabbana hab lana min azwajina wa dhurriyatina qurrata a`yunin wa’j`alna li’l muttaqina imama
(Our Lord! Grant unto us spouses and offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and give us (the grace) to lead the righteous.)
Amin.

Alhamulillah.
Happy 4th of July!*
*For those of you in other countries, please ignore the patriotic stuff and just enjoy these pretty pictures and ponder the majesty and wonder of Allah’s creation.
Naps are Sunnah?!? Brilliant!
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Take a nap, for the Shayateen do not take naps.” (At-Tabarani, Al-Sahihah, no. 2647)
Alhamdulillah! I needed that…
After a wonderfully enjoyable (and delicious) iftar at Amma’s with a few other reverts and some friendly neighbors last night, I had a bit of trouble getting to sleep… too much excitement.
But thanks to an office policy that lets us out 2 hours early on the eve of holidays, and thanks to the aforementioned Hadith, I had a lovely (if a bit long) nap this afternoon. Alhamdulillah!
InshaAllah we’ll have the energy and focus for tarawih tonight.
Wasps are in the what now?
I didn’t expect to see any pollination going on today… after all, this neighborhood is very new, and I’ve not seen anything in the way of bees around.
Imagine my surprise when I saw this little guy happily munching on this onion flower.
Did you have any idea that wasps are competent pollinators?
Who knew?
And did you know onions put out these crazy flowers?
SubhanaAllah! Alhamdulillah! Allahu Akbar!
