In preparation for a recent short trip to visit Mom, I thought it might be fun to pit the Konica WaiWai against the Lomo LC-Wide. I then thought it might be a good idea to also add in the Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim, and then remembered my recent purchase of a gently used Nikkor 17-35mm f/2.8D to use for unboxing videos on the D780, and wondered how it would perform on film. And with that, the Wide Angle Battle began…

As usual, my ambition exceeded my skill and grit, but I did manage a single roll from each camera. To keep things simple-ish, I used Fuji Superia X-Tra 400, bought fresh on the same day from the same place (two 3-packs acquired at a local Walmart), and I endeavored to shoot each camera from each vantage point, roughly aimed in the same direction. I didn’t take a tripod, though, and I’m often impatient, so there were discrepancies.

I’m not promising anything, but I hope to write a brief review of each setup, one per day Monday-Thursday next week, with a head-to-head showdown on Friday. Don’t hold your breath, though, and only God knows what next week holds.
