Today, on this first official day of summer, I’m grateful for seasons, for the changes in weather that bring changes in moods and clothes and (traditionally, anyway) food supply.

Winter, with its mittens and heavy coats and hibernation, gives way to spring with its rain jackets and general rebirth that rolls into summer, with its shorts and flip-flops and constant sweating, that leads to fall with all scarves and winds and the changing colors. Without the heat of the summer, would we appreciate the cold of winter or the pleasantness of the few weeks of fall and spring we enjoy here in North Texas? I doubt it.

So let’s take a few minutes to give thanks to God for the blessings of summer, and may He protect us from its harms, ameen.
