Today, on a rainy, cool Sunday, I’m thankful for rainy, cool, lazy Sundays, with not much in the way of chores or tasks ahead, time to sleep in, reflect on the week just past and the week ahead, and spend quality time with family.

Alhamdulillah! What does Pancho’s Mexican Buffet have to do with lazy Sundays?

Back in my teenage years, and again in my 20s and 30s, a rainy, cool, lazy Sunday meant used bookstores and lunch at Pancho’s with Mom. I haven’t eaten at a Pancho’s in years, and have concerns that the oils and greases might not be halal. But a rainy, cool Sunday still makes me want to hit up a used bookstore and find some cheap tex-mex.

All praise and thanks be to God for the ease that comes after hardship, and for the hardships that lead to ease, and may He guide me to make good use of both, Ameen.

For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.
Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.
So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship].
And to your Lord direct [your] longing.
