I’m awful at remembering to check settings on cameras before I start shooting. I’ve gotten a little bit better over the years, maybe, but I still lose it from time to time. For this year’s summer vacation, I took along some Bergger Pancro 400 in 35mm and 120. I managed to set the Olympus XA to 400 right after loading, but somehow forgot with the Yashica Mat-124.

Actually, it never even crossed my mind, and I didn’t realize it until I was almost headed home…

My first stop was the Massive Dev Chart. No help there, so I next turned to Twitter, where I got some very helpful replies: thanks, Dev, Eric, & David!

I went with D76, stock solution, for 7:30, at 68℉, and they turned out fine, I think. No grainier than 35mm, shot at 400 and developed in Rodinal 1:25 for 9:00, also at 68℉.

The developing was a bit uneven, in some spots, but other than that, it turned out fine, though I’m grateful to have another roll to shoot. I think it’ll be great at box speed or maybe pushed a couple of stops. (I will also benefit from improving my 120 Scanning techniques, but really only if I want to print larger than 8×8, which looks pretty good actually.*)

Overall, I’m really pleased with how this roll turned out, even shot at 1.66 stops over. It still developed nicely, and I’ll be shooting it again.
