365.151 Olive and Ivan: Hipstamaticats
27th May
So I was busily surfing the interwebs when I looked over and spied Olive and Ivan, basking in the midmorning sunlight.
The D7000 was zipped up in the camera bag, and Ivan would’ve run if I’d tried to take it out, but I had the iPhone close at hand, and have found a few new recipes, thanks to the several evenings I spent shooting the same scene over and over again with every possible lens & film combination (no flashes, though, and I may or may not post them for posterity…).
iPhone 4. Hipstamatic App. Watts lens, Blanko Noir film.
As a bonus, please enjoy the 9 best shots I snagged before the brilliant light moved on:
Recipes used:
Watts + Blanko Noir
Loftus +Big Up
Tejas + Cano Cafenol
John S + US1776
Lucifer VI +AO DLX
The last three were provided by Dan Cristea (@konstruktivist on Instagram). Thanks!
365.27 Stop Popping that Damn Flash in My Face!
24th January
Ladies & Gentlemen, meet Olive. She’s really very very sweet, and terribly fluffy, but she would prefer to nap without being interrupted by a SB-700 popping in her face, even when it’s popping through a cereal-box strip-box.
Oh well.
Nikkor 50mm 1.8G, ISO1250 (still… forgot to adjust, and only remembered after I got this shot, which just had to be the winner for today), 1/160, f/5.6. Flash at 17mm, 1/8 +3ev, through the cereal box strip box with its baffle in place, and cropped to remove a part of a painting in the lower right and part of the cat tree in the upper left, contrast/saturation/vibrancy/definition pumped in aperture, and all around good times, though my arm is still a bit tired from yesterday, and I spent about 40 minutes chasing cats around with the D7000+50mm+Cactus v5 trigger in one hand and … Read More »
365.20 Ivan vs. the LensBaby
17th January
I was feeling a bit worn out, creatively speaking, and had no idea what I wanted to shoot for the 365, so I strapped on the LensBaby and forced myself to shoot around.
And I ended up with this nice shot of Ivan, and it marks two firsts for the 365! 1) it’s the first picture of a cat. I’ll try not to shoot the cats too much, but there will be at least one more, as Olive needs her time to shine too! And 2) the first use of on-camera flash. Don’t get excited, it was just the pop-up, diffused with ye olde film canister trick. One of my goals for 2012 is to get more competent with flash, and so there will likely be considerably more flash work in the future, as I experiment and play with the SB-700.
So, … Read More »
